KCRW (89.9FM and KCRW.com) launched updates to the KCRW Radio iPhone app, which is already available in the Apple App Store and streams all three KCRW web channels – On Air, News and Music (Eclectic24). The Los Angeles-based public radio station re-worked the app from the ground up to improve the listening experience on every level for Version 1.1.

“The updated KCRW Radio iPhone app offers much-requested new features, such as the ability to bookmark song titles to share via email or purchase later and to stream KCRW in the background while using other apps,” said KCRW Director of New Media Anil Dewan.

“This app connects us to our listeners on an intimate level as only the medium of radio can, while providing all the perks tech-savvy users expect and deserve.”

The world-renowned radio station launched the KCRW Radio iPhone app last summer and it quickly drew critical acclaim from KCRW fans and media alike. The app was recently nominated in the “Mobile Entertainment” category for the 14th Annual Webby Awards and was listed as one of Wired Magazine’s “20 Favorite iPhone Apps” in 2009.

KCRW’s reputation for playing the best new music and high-quality live band performances makes them essential listening for music lovers and inspired the most-requested feature: the ability to bookmark song titles to share and purchase later.
