VHS-PlayerThe debate over which format was better — VHS versus Betamax — is now really over and it’s time to get any video of any station events off these formats and into the cloud.


The last manufacturer of video cassette recorders will stop production at the end of this month. Japan’s Funai Electric Co. sold VHS machines for 30+ years in North America and China under the Sanyo brand.

But last year it sold only 750,000 and faced a hard time finding parts, reports Bloomberg.

Sony Corporation stopped manufacturing Betamax video recorders in 2002, but had continued to manufacture the tapes until earlier this March.
