The Channel 40 signal of W40BY in Chicago will soon provide Liberman Broadcasting’s Estrella TV network to the market’s 490K-strong Hispanic population once a deal to acquire the station from Trinity Broadcasting comes to fruition.

“With the addition of the Chicago station to our O&O stable, LBI Media has achieved yet another significant milestone: Estrella TV will now be seen in each of the top fifteen U.S. Hispanic markets,” said Lenard Liberman, CEO of LBI Media. “Hispanics are among fastest growing segment of Chicago’s population with nearly two million living in the metropolitan area. We seek to enrich the community with Estrella TV’s refreshing news and entertainment, in addition to providing advertisers with a unique platform to engage a coveted demographic.”

In addition to expanding the reach of its network, LBI says this will be its ninth O&O television market – it just added #8 in Denver – and will take its O&O reach up to 73% of the total US Hispanic demographic.

The station broadcasts from the Willis Tower (once known as the Sears Tower). Terms of the deal were not released.
