The 2018 NAB Show is guaranteed to have more bright lights — and food for attendees — than the jam-packed and expansive 2017 event in Las Vegas.

Two new events highlighting broadcast industry achievement are on tap, including an April 9 awards dinner and April 10 “broadcasters celebration.”

A new “NAB Achievement in Broadcasting Dinner” will be held on Monday, April 9, at the Encore Las Vegas.

Then, on Tuesday, April 10, a separate “NAB: We Are Broadcasters Celebration” will be held Tuesday, April 10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The events, the NAB says, recognize individuals and companies for their contributions in advancing the industry through technology, public service, and superior content.

They replace the NAB Show Television Luncheon, NAB Show Radio Luncheon, and NAB Show Technology Luncheon, all of which have been ticketed events at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort.

The Achievement in Broadcasting Dinner and show is a ticketed event, which will include an hour-long networking reception at 6pm and a plated dinner at 7pm. It will be held at Encore Las Vegas.

The event features the presentation of the NAB Radio and Television Hall of Fame Awards and the NAB Digital Leadership Award.

The Tuesday NAB: We Are Broadcasters Celebration will be held from 3pm-4:15pm at the Las Vegas Convention Center, followed by a networking reception at the NAB Show Mainstage in the convention center’s North Hall. This event will include the presentation of the NAB Crystal Radio Awards and the NAB Crystal Heritage Award, in addition to the Radio and Television Engineering Achievement Awards and the Television Chairman’s Award.

“These changes are an opportunity to better highlight key awards and expose them to a broader NAB Show audience,” said NAB EVP/Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown. “The new schedule also reflects NAB’s focus on keeping the show fresh and relevant while continuing to highlight the great work our industry does from a business, creative and community perspective.”

Meanwhile, the NAB Show Opening event, featuring the presentation of the NAB Distinguished Service Award, will relocate from the Westgate to the NAB Show Mainstage in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
