On 1/14, the Commission dismissed a five-station cluster sale in Pittsfield, MA from Berkshire Broadcasting and Gamma Broadcasting (Bruce G. Danziger) to Reed Miami Holdings LLC (Greg Reed). Reed is a former WQAM-AM and WPOW-FM Miami GM; and former co-owner of Beasley Broadcasting.
The deal, announced 8/23/13, was for AC WNAW-FM North Adams, MA, AC WSBS-AM Great Barrington, MA, and Classic Hits WUPE-FM North Adams, MA from Berkshire; and News/Talk WBEC-AM, Classic Hits WUPE-AM and Hot AC WBEC-FM (all Pittsfield) from Gamma.
In-market competitor WBRK Inc. (WBRK-AM and WBRK-FM) filed a petition to deny based on the fact that the sale documentation including the purchase price were never filed with the FCC. Both Berkshire and Gamma subsequently withdrew the transfer app.
The original deal was for 5.25 x BCF, with a $350K deposit at closing.
