Pakistan bleeds, leads

Project for Excellence in Journalism chart for the week of 11/4/07-11/9/07 saw most eyes on Pakistan, where a strong clamp down on personal freedom went into effect to prevent massive bleeding. It put a spotlight on the shaky condition of one of America's top allies in the region, and edged out the 2008 campaign as the week's top overall story. Radio, however, had other ideas. It's top story was the attempt by Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) to impeach VP Dick Cheney and the Republican's surprise response to it, a story which did not make any other top ten list at all. 14 stories were on individual charts but not on the overall top ten, which was already down to a 3% share for the #3 story. OJ Simpson was back on the overall top ten, put there solely by cable outlets, which further indulged its journalistic sweet tooth with further coverage of Dog the Bounty Hunter. The biggest story to exit the list was the saga of the California wildfires, which finally burned itself out.
