Roy Steinfort dead at 88
The Associated Press announced that former AP Vice President for Broadcast Roy Steinfort died Sunday at age 88. He had battled cancer.
Steinfort, who retired in 1986, was responsible for expanding the AP’s radio news network to more than 1,000 stations and relocating the national radio and TV newswire operations from New York to Washington, DC, where they were merged into a Broadcast News Center (BNC) with the radio network. Television news production was latter added to the BNC.
Steinfort’s widow, Patricia Milton, is an investigative producer for CBS News.
