Magazines fighting tough conditions

Advertising revenue is down in the consumer magazine business, according to the Publishers Information Bureau. Q1 2008 is said to have suffered a decrease of 1.2% over the same period in 2007. On a page-to-page basis, the news is even worse, with a drop of minus 6.4%. Weakness in automotive and home furnishings categories is getting tagged with a share of blame.
