Murdoch labels Obama a rock star
News Corp. media mogul Rupert Murdoch did more than that – at a digital media conference, he said of Barack Obama, "He is a rock star. I love what he is saying about education. I think he will win and I am anxious to meet him." Looking at the presumptive flip side of the electoral equation, Murdoch said "McCain is a friend of mine. But I think he's got a lot of problems. He has been in Congress a long time, and you have to make a lot of compromises. So what's he really stand for? I think he has a lot of problems." Murdoch even told Yahoo Finance Tech/Ticker reporter Sarah Lacy that he expects Obama to “win in a landslide,” and that the Illinois senator may even get his own vote, although at present he remains undecided.
RBR/TVBR observation: Murdoch is widely viewed as an arch-conservative; in fact, in certain parts of the liberal blogosphere he may be seen as the devil incarnate. But it has also been said that his true political inclination is toward whatever brand will lead to cash pouring into his vast media empire; hence racy material on Fox Network that drives so-called values conservatives nuts, and earlier reports of Murdoch playing footsie with Hillary Clinton, and now this “near endorsement” of Obama.
