Ad recession brings bitter enemies together

It has gotten to be so hard to make a buck in the newspaper business that even Rupert Murdoch and Mort Zuckerman are on speaking terms. As first reported by the New York Times, the two moguls are looking at some sort of cooperative venture to cut overhead for their newspapers in New York. The potential deal would combine some business functions of the New York Daily News, owned by Zuckerman, and the New York Post, owned by Murdoch’s News Corporation. In addition, they’ve already sought bids from vendors on saving money by combining home delivery of the two papers, plus News Corporation’s Wall Street Journal.
