Nothing official yet, but the NY Post reports David Verklin, former Aegis Media Americas CEO, has been tapped by the cable industry to lead an effort to develop a system for delivering targeted TV ads: “The major cable companies are pouring $150 million into the initiative, code-named Project Canoe, in an attempt to boost ad sales and compete with Google, which is already making forays into TV advertising. The cable companies backing the project include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Cox, Charter Communications and Bright House Networks.”

Comcast Chief Executive Brian Roberts, speaking at The Cable Show in New Orleans on Sunday, told attendees that the industry has "just hired or is about to hire" an executive to lead the project.
