CBS Radio's streaming coverage of VP debate sees triple digit increase

On Thursday, October 2, the vice presidential debate between Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin took place at Washington University in St. Louis.  The 2008 election is shaping up to be one of the most closely followed and anticipated elections in history, and CBS Radio stations across the nation took this opportunity to feature the debates online.  Sixteen stations across the United States, KCBS-AM, KFWB-AM, KNX-AM, KYW-AM, WBBM-AM, WBZ-AM, WCBS-AM, WINS-AM, WWJ-AM, KDKA-AM, KMOX-AM, KPTK-AM, KRLD-AM, KXNT-AM, WCCO-AM and WTIC-AM had streaming coverage of the vice presidential debate available online.  Overall, the 16 stations saw an increase of 189% in online listenership from 9:00-10:30 PM compared to the same time frame the Thursday prior to the debate.  WCBS-AM in New York and KNX-AM in Los Angeles saw notable gains in streaming listeners, with a 376% and 342% increase, respectively.
