CBS Radio News stations see big boost on election day
As a result of the presidential election, a number of CBS Radio’s news websites and streams saw a large boost in views and listenership compared to the Tuesday prior. The nine stations tracked include WBBM-AM in Chicago, WCBS-AM and WINS-AM in New York, KFWB-AM and KNX-AM in Los Angeles, KYW-AM and WPHT-AM in Philadelphia, WBZ-AM in Boston and KCBS-AM in San Francisco. Overall, according to WebCast Metrics, the stations saw a 66% increase in their streaming average, which is made up of the average listening audience per hour for the entire day. Pageviews for the news sites increased 55%, while website visits increased 43% over the 24 hour period, according to data from OneStat. In particular, KNX saw the largest pageview increase, with a 266% jump from week to week, as well as the biggest jump in website visits, up 202% from the prior week. KFWB also had a successful day, seeing a streaming increase of 170%. Other stations that did particularly well as a result of the election were KCBS, WBBM and WINS.
