Proxy firm backs Media General dissident

Harbinger Capital Partners is claiming a victory because one of the major proxy vote advisory firms has advised its institutional investor clients not to vote for any of the three board of director candidates being backed for re-election by management at Media General. The proxy firm, Glass Lewis, didn’t endorse the whole slate offered by Harbinger either, but did recommend that clients vote for one of the nominees put up by the hedge fund – veteran TV executive Dan Sullivan.
