Mexico vs. Argentina on Univision attracts highest viewership

Highly anticipated 2010 FIFA World Cup™ match-up between Mexico and Argentina delivered the highest viewership ever for Univision, attracting over 9.3 million Total Viewers 2+ (9,362,938) who watched the event. The match exceeded the performance of all previous programs in the network’s history, regardless of genre, and is the single most watched telecast in the history of Spanish-language television in the United States. Univision’s broadcast of Mexico vs. Argentina also registered impressive audience levels across all key demos, attracting over 5.5 million Adults 18-49 (5,589,239), over 3.3 million Adults 18-34 (3,318,956) and more than 4 million Persons 12-34 (4,192,631). 


Locally, of all the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ matches broadcast to date on any network, Univision stations’ coverage of Mexico vs. Argentina attracted the highest viewership for the tournament thus far in key demos and markets across the nation, including Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Dallas among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34. Additionally, regardless of language, Univision stations’ coverage of the Mexico vs. Argentina game was the #1 program of the week in Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Dallas among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34.

Univision Interactive Media attracted  more than 12.4 million page views and over 1.6 million visits from fans across all platforms the day of the Argentina/Mexico match. Additionally, the Argentina vs. Mexico game generated more than 72,000 peak simultaneous streams on UnivisionFutbol.com.

Univision’s  coverage of Saturday’s Uruguay vs. South Korea match averaged 2.6 million viewers Total Viewers 2+ (2,569,462), 1.5 million Adults 18-49 (1,483,877), 703,000 Adults 18-34 (702,613), and 807,000 Persons 12-34 (806,896)

U.S.A. vs. Ghana (6/26/10; 2:30-5:06pm ET)

The nail-biting encounter between the U.S.A. and Ghana attracted over 4.5 million Total Viewers 2+ (4,507,728) the highest-rated World Cup match ever for the U.S. team on Univision.
 
This match also made the top 10 among the network’s most-watched soccer matches in Univision’s history, ranking 10th among Total Viewers 2+.

2010 FIFA World Cup™ to date, the U.S.A. vs. Ghana match-up ranks as the 5th most-watched game among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

Saturday was the #1 weekend day for World Cup live streaming on UnivisionFutbol.com, with the U.S. vs. Ghana match that day coming in as the top weekend match to date with over 84,000 peak simultaneous streams.
