Midwest launches WBOW-FM 98.5


MidwestDuke Wright’s Midwest Communications has launched Adult Hits/AC WBOW-FM in Champaign, IL/Terre-Haute, IN, from its former Talk WIBQ-FM. “The Valley’s Best Variety” is currently airing back-to-back songs. The WIBQ calls and former Talk format have moved to 1300 AM and is is also simulcasting on sister WPRS-FM Paris, IL.

Midwest has also bought Bott Radio Network’s CP for 1230 kHz in Terre Haute for $100K. It will move WIBC AM to that frequency and retire the 1300 AM frequency.

Two years ago, Midwest filed an application with the FCC to pick up WBOW AM & FM. The seller was Crossroads Investments, headed by Dan T. Lacy and Mike Peterson.

The price was $1.3M cash.

WBOW-FM, a Class B on 102.7 MHz, is now Country WDWQ-FM. WBOW-AM is a Class D on 1300 kHz with 500 W-D, 75 W-N ND.

Midwest’s holdings in the market include Top-40 WMGI-FM Terre Haute IN and Alternative WWXR-FM.
