John Roberts (pictured) is leaving as co-anchor of CNN’s “American Morning” by the end of the year – which is just a few days away. Also, Jamie Kraft, who has been producer for both American Morning and “Anderson Cooper 360” is leaving CNN for another job.

Those personnel changes were disclosed to staffers by Ken Jautz, Executive Vice President of CNN/US. His email said Roberts will be taking an Atlanta-based reporting role.

Jautz told staffers that CNN has been working to make the morning show “more upbeat and faster-paced.” Kiran Chetry will continue as co-anchor, with Jautz saying he’ll be looking at a variety of other people filling the other co-anchor chair on a rotating basis. First up next week is TJ Holmes.

Jim McGinnis takes over immediately as interim executive producer for American Morning.
