Sag-aftraMinnesota Public Radio staff in St. Paul voted to join SAG-AFTRA.

Thirty-nine voted yes, 17 voted no and 18 challenges were included.

The contract covers those who create content for MPR News, American Radio Works and a new investigative unit. The vote was to recognize SAG-AFTRA as their union and the next step is to negotiate a contract.

MPR joins other public media organizations whose employees have voted in recent years to join the union, notably KPCC in Pasadena, KPBS in San Diego and WBEZ in Chicago. Other public radio newsrooms repped by SAG-AFTRA include NPR, KQED in San Francisco and WNYC in New York City.
