Mun2 debuting “Sports Arena”

mun2’s foray into the world of sports coverage begins this weekend with the broadcast of futbol on mun2 slated to kick off this Saturday 2/20 at 7:55pmET with the Guadalajara vs. Puebla soccer match.  The debut of the brand new weekly, half hour sports recap show, ‘The mun2 Sports Arena’ follows on Sunday 2/21 at 10:30pm ET/PT. 


Each week on ‘The Arena,’ Pablo Alsina and a group of contributors throughout the U.S and Latin America will give viewers a fast-paced sports recap in a casual format and customized to highlight the favorite sports and athletes of young Latino Americans.  Alsina joins mun2 after his previous stint on GolTV where he served as one of their lead play by play announcers.  Alsina has called top games including World Cup Qualifiers, the 2007 Copa America, and major live games from Spain’s La Liga, as well as Germany’s Bundesliga. 

“The Arena’ will profile two young sports stars, Javier “El Chicharito” Hernandez, Guadalajara’s star forward and one of Mexico’s top goal scorers, as well as Puerto Rican boxer, Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. who is on a quest to win his first major title and to become part of the first father/son duo to be world champions in the sport.  Also on the inaugural program, ‘The Arena’ will take viewers behind the scenes of one of the most popular and controversial sports, Mixed Martial Arts. 

Alsina will also serve as part of the announcing team for over 20 Saturday night soccer matches on the network including mun2’s broadcast of the Mexico vs. New Zealand soccer match on Wednesday 3/3 at 10:55pm ET which marks Mexico’s second match on their tour of the US as they prepare for the upcoming 2010 World Cup.
