Music boots talk at WCSX-FM Detroit

Greater Media’s WCSX-FM Detroit is the latest music station to drop its morning drive personality and talk oriented morning show in favor of a music intensive show. That leaves long-time Motor City personalities Jeff Deminski and Bill Doyle without a radio home.

Longtime afternoon drive personality Ken Calvert will be replacing Deminski and Doyle during morning drive on WCSX, the station announced. In addition, Operations Manager and radio veteran Doug Podell will add on-air duties to his role, as he takes over afternoon drive on the Classic Rock station. Calvert will assume his new role on January 11th.

Deminski and Doyle had aired on WCSX for just one year after runs dating back to 1999 on WRKR-FM and WXYT-FM.

An account on the website of the Detroit Free Press said the pair played many of their best bits on the air Monday before telling the audience that it would be their last show. Deminski and Doyle said the parting with WCSX was amicable.

“Jeff Deminski and Bill Doyle are very talented talk hosts, and we appreciate their contributions to the station,” said Podell in a statement announcing the changes.

According to the station announcement, the new morning show programming will be “more music intensive and reflect the station’s heritage classic rock roots.”
