NBC loves Off Their Rockers

  • At 8 p.m. ET, “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) captured a 6 percent gain versus the prior week in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 rating from a 1.6) and 2 percent in total viewers (6.209 million vs. 6.062 million).   In its first three weeks, “Off Their Rockers” has delivered NBC’s three biggest overall audiences in the Wednesday 8-8:30 time period since November 30, 2011.  All three weeks of “Off Their Rockers” have also matched or topped NBC’s best 18-49 ratings in the slot prior to “Rockers” since February 15.  In an intensely competitive time period opposite Fox’s “American Idol,” CBS’s “Survivor” and ABC’s encore “The Middle,” “Off Their Rockers” ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.  This week’s telecast of “Off Their Rockers” improved on NBC’s time-period average this season prior to “Rockers” by 29 percent or 1.4 million persons in total viewers (6.209 million vs. 4.804 million).
  • At 8:30 ET, “Best Friends Forever” averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox’s “American Idol,” CBS’s “Survivor” and ABC’s “Suburgatory.”  “Best Friends Forever” matched its 18-49 rating of the prior week and is currently generating a total-viewer gain of 13 percent (3.151 million vs. 2.784 million).
  • At 9 p.m. ET, “Rock Center with Brian Williams” delivered a  0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall, improving versus the prior week by 0.2 of a rating point in both adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (0.9 vs. 0.7) and by 10 percent in total viewers (2.870 million vs. 2.620 million), pending updates.  This week’s “Rock Center” grew from its first half-hour to its second by 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 0.8 rating from a 0.7) and 13 percent in adults 25-54 (0.8 vs. 0.7).
  • At 10 p.m. ET, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 21 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 rating from a 1.4), 22 percent in adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 1.8) and 17 percent in total viewers (6.2 million vs. 5.3 million).  “SVU” built on its lead-in by 114 percent in 18-49 rating and 80 percent in total viewers.
  • “Law & Order: SVU” scored NBC’s top total-viewer result in the Wednesday, 10 p.m. ET hour in eight weeks (since February 22), pending updates.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night:

  • In      Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight      Show with Jay Leno,” 2.5/7 with an encore telecast; CBS’s “Late      Show with David Letterman,” 1.9/5 with an encore; and ABC’s combo of      “Nightline,” 3.3/8; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,”      1.7/5.
  • In      the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The      Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/3 with an encore; “Late Show,”      0.5/2 with an encore; “Nightline,” 1.2/5; and “Jimmy Kimmel      Live,” 0.7/4.
  • At      12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.3/5 in      metered-market household with an encore) beat CBS’s first-run “Late      Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.0/3).  In the 25 markets with      Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an      encore) topped “Late Late Show” (0.3/2).
  • At      1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market      households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets      with local people meters.

  1. Betty White DESERVES better than Off their Rockers. She needs some new
    writers. Betty has been truly funny over the years, and seniors love to
    laugh, but really a cross word puzzle with “slut?” Perhaps the younger
    writers are hung up on trash; seniors have broader concepts of humor that
    range beyond four letter words and deeds!
