‘NBC Nightly News’ takes week; Online Streams close to 6 million

“NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS” WINS THE WEEK WITH 9.3 MILLION TOTAL VIEWERS


On its digital platforms, “Nightly” continued its strong performance last week with more than 5.8 million online streams for the week ending March 6, 2010.

“NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams” was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of March 1-7, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, “Nightly” saw 9.323 million total viewers, +1.411 million more than ABC “World News,'” 7.912 million and +3.169 million more than CBS “Evening News'” 6.154 million.

Season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +1.284 million total viewers and is the only newscast to show growth versus the same period last season.

Last week, “Nightly” also led in the key demo adults 25-54. “Nightly” delivered a 2.2 rating A25-54, ahead of “World News'” 1.9 and “Evening News'” 1.6. With 2.736 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat “World News” by +425,000 viewers. Season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +525,000 A25-54 viewers. This is the 67th consecutive week “Nightly” has topped “World News” in this key demo.

As the number one network broadcast last week, “Nightly News” delivered a 6.2/12 Household rating, with “World News” in second place with a 5.4/10, and “Evening News” in third with a 4.1/8.
