NBC: “Talent” #1 for the night

NBCTuesday Results: From 8-10 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (2.8/8 in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall) delivered the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and total viewers.  In the time period, “Talent” is #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and total viewers ahead of Fox’s “MasterChef” and Tuesday debut of “Hotel Hell.”  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Talent grew by 21 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.9 from a 2.4) and 8 percent in total viewers (10.1 million vs. 9.4 million).


“Talent” returned to the schedule with a 4 percent increase versus its last pre-Olympic Tuesday telecast in 18-49 (with a 2.8 rating vs. a 2.7 on July 24), while in 2008, the first post-Olympic “Talent” was down 11 percent versus the last pre-Olympic edition.  In total viewers, last night’s “Talent” finished within 4 percent of the last pre-Olympic result (9.972 million vs. 10.431 million, pending updates), while the 2008 returning telecast was down by 12 percent.

The 2.8 rating for “America’s Got Talent” in 18-49 matches the show’s highest for any night of the week since Monday, July 2.

·       From 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “Stars Earn Stripes” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) ranks #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the time period in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

·       The “Stars Earn Stripes” rebroadcast finished within 0.3 of a point of Monday’s original telecast of the “Stars” premiere in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.7).

“Stars Earn Stripes” delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in this time period, excluding the two weeks of Olympic preemptions, since June 26.

·       NBC is tied for #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is #1 outright in total viewers, sweeping all six half-hours among those networks in 18-49.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.2/6; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.6/7; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 2.7/6; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.3/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/3; “Late Show,” 0.6/3; “Nightline,” 0.9/4; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.5/3.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.1/4 in metered-market households) trailed CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.2/4 with an encore).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.4/3 in 18-49) tied “Late Late Show” (0.4/2 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
