NBC: “Talent” wins over the “Dancing,” “Glee”

NBCFrom 9-10 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (3.2/9 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) is #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 versus intense sweep-month competition from ABC’s first hour of the “Dancing With the Stars” finale and Fox’s “Glee” finale.   From 9-10, “Talent” topped the “Dancing“ finale by 10 percent (with a 3.2 rating vs. a 2.9) and the “Glee” finale by 7 percent (3.2 vs. 3.0).  “America’s Got Talent” is up versus NBC’s season averages in the slot prior to the debut of “Talent” by 28 percent in 18-49 (with a 3.2 rating vs. a 2.5) and up 35 percent in total viewers (9.292 million vs. 6.893 million).  From its first half-hour to its second, “America’s Got Talent” grew by 13 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.4 from a 3.0) and by 12 percent in total viewers (9.8 million vs. 8.8 million).


·       Last night’s “Talent” is up versus the average for the show’s last eight Tuesday telecasts last summer (3.2 vs. 3.1), despite last night’s competition from sweep-month finales.

At 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “America’s Got Talent” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 behind only Fox’s last competition episode of “American Idol” and ahead of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” encore and CBS’s “NCIS: LA” rebroadcast.  The “Talent” encore was also #2 among those networks in adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults and men 25-54.

·       From 10-11 p.m. ET, “ the NBC News Special “Dateline NBC: 20th Anniversary Special” reported a 1.6/4 in 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall, matching NBC’s 18-49 rating in the time period one week earlier with “Fashion Star.”

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.5/6; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.5/6; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 4.4/10; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 2.2/7.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.8/4; “Late Show,” 0.6/3; “Nightline,” 1.2/5; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.6/3.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.1/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped “Late Late Show” (0.3/2).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
