NBC tallies Golden Globes

Sunday Results:
* Sunday from 8-11 p.m. ET and live in all time zones, “The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards” (5.0 rating in adults 18-49, 16.8 million viewers overall) attracted NBC’s highest adult 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period, excluding sports, since last year’s Golden Globes on January 16, 2011 and the highest 18-49 and total-viewer figures for any network in the time period, excluding sports, since ABC’s Academy Awards coverage on February 27, 2011.  


* Last night’s “Golden Globe Awards” finished within 4 percent of last year in adults 18-49 (5.0 vs. 5.2) and within 1 in total viewers (16.844 million vs. 17.001 million).  The telecast is currently the season’s #1 awards program to date in 18-49 and total viewers ahead of ABC’s “CMA Awards” and “American Music Awards” and Fox’s “Emmy Awards” and “American Country Awards.”

* Versus NBC’s non-sports average in this time period last season, the “Golden Globe Awards” telecast is up 138 percent in 18-49 rating (5.0 vs. 2.1, “live plus same day”) and 163 percent in total viewers (16.844 million vs. 6.413 million).

* “The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards” currently ranks #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and total viewers versus such time-period competition as Fox’s “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and premiere of “Napoleon Dynamite,” CBS’s season premiere of “Undercover Boss,” “The Good Wife” and “CSI: Miami” and ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Pan Am.” 

* For a third consecutive year, the “Golden Globes” were televised live to all time zones, and some western markets also carried an encore telecast immediately following the live coverage.

* From 7-8 p.m., “The 2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Special” aired live in all time zones and currently available fast affiliate-based ratings are subject to significant adjustment.  In metered-market households, “The 2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Special” averaged a 3.8 rating, 6 share, versus its 4.5/7 of one year ago.
