NBC Thursday, best in show “The Office” #2 in the time period

From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, “Community” (2.0/7 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since March 25 to rank #2 in the half-hour among the major networks.  In the time period, “Community” is currently #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34 (tie) and men 18-34 and #2 among men 18-49, women 18-49, women 18-34 and men 25-54, ahead of ABC’s “FlashForward” and CBS’s “Mentalist” encore.


From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, “Parks and Recreation” (2.2/7 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) delivered its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results since March 4 to rank #2 among the major networks in the half-hour in adults 18-49.  In the time period, “Parks and Recreation” is #1 among the major networks in men 18-34.  “Parks and Recreation” built on its 18-49 lead-in by 10 percent and has retained 95 percent or more of its lead-in with 23 of 24 originals this season.

“Parks and Recreation” is up week to week in 18-49 for a second straight week, up 5 percent versus one week ago (2.1 vs. 2.0) and up 11 percent versus two week ago (2.1 vs. 1.9).  In total viewers, “Parks & Recreation” is up 6 percent versus last week (4.5 million vs. 4.284 million) and up 13 percent versus two weeks ago (4.5 million vs. 4.030 million).   

At 9 p.m. ET, “The Office” (3.4/10 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) is #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and is #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34 (tie), men 18-34 and men 18-49 versus season finales of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe.” 

“The Office” is the #2 show of the night in adults 18-49 behind only ABC’s season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

At 9:31 p.m. ET, “30 Rock” (2.7/8 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) is up week to week by 8 percent in 18-49 (2.7 vs. 2.5) and up 8 percent in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 5.0 million).  In the time period, “30 Rock” currently ranks #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and men 18-49 (tie) and #2 in adults 18-34 and women 18-34, airing against the concluding half-hours of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe.” 

“30 Rock” matched its top 18-49 rating since March 25.

At 10 p.m., “The Marriage Ref” (2.0/6 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) jumped week to week by 25 percent in 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.6) and 12 percent in total viewers (4.5 million vs. 3.991 million), despite special competition this week from the second hour of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” season finale.  In men 18-34, “The Marriage Ref” tied CBS’s season finale of “The Mentalist” for #2 among the major networks in the time period.

NBC improved on the adult 18-49 average for its season-finale Thursday last year by 4% (2.4 vs. 2.3).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 3.0/8; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 3.0/8; and ABC’s “Nightline,” 3.5/8; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.6/5. 

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 1.1/5; “Late Show,” 0.8/3; “Nightline,” 1.4/6; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.7/4.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.4/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.4/5).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped “Late Late Show” (0.4/2).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
