NBC was #1 on Sunday

NBCNBC finished #1 Sunday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key categories, as the “2012 Miss USA Pageant” tied for the #1 rating of the night on those networks, “Adele Live in London” delivered a three-month time-period high and “Dateline” reported its top Sunday rating since April.


At 7 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) reported its highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday telecast since April 22 and its biggest Sunday overall audience since April 15.

At 8 p.m. ET, the NBC Special “Adele Live in London” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories.  The concert special built on its lead-in by 89 percent in 18-49 rating and 34 percent in total viewers.  From its first half-hour to its second, “Adele Live in London” grew by 20 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.8 from a 1.5) and by 13 percent in total viewers (6.6 million vs. 5.8 million).

“Adele Live in London” delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period in 15 weeks (since February 19).

From 9-11 p.m. ET, the “2012 Miss USA Pageant” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) tied for the #1 rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox in adults 18-49 with Fox’s “Family Guy” encore (1.8 rating each).  “Miss USA” tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour and was #1 outright among those networks in the 10 p.m. hour in adults 18-49, as well as men and women 18-49, adults and men 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-34.  “Miss USA” also led its two-hour time period among those networks in adults 25-54 and total viewers.  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Miss USA” grew by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.9 from a 1.6) and by 24 percent or 1.3 million persons in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 5.6 million).  “

The “2012 Miss USA Pageant” delivered the event’s second-highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in five years, ranking since 2007 behind only last year’s figures (2.2/6 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall).

In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, the “2012 Miss USA Pageant” delivered a 10 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 2.3 rating vs. a 2.1 for ABC’s second-place “Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition”).  “Miss USA” was also #1 or tied for #1 in the 10:30 half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in all other key ratings categories.
