NBC wins Tuesday with “Talent”

NBCNBC is #1 Tuesday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and total viewers, with “America’s Got Talent” #1 for the night among those networks in 18-49 and total viewers and “Love in the Wild” winning its second  hour from 10-11 p.m. among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49.


At 8 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (3.4/11 in 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall) generated the #1 18-49 and total-viewer results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and is #1 in the time period among those networks in all key ratings categories – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.  “Talent” led the hour among those networks by a 62 percent margin in 18-49 (3.4 vs. a 2.1 for Fox’s second-place “Hell’s Kitchen”).   Despite shifting this week from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m., “Talent” hit a season high in total viewers for a Tuesday telecast.

From its first half-hour to its second, “America’s Got Talent” grew by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.7 from a 3.1) and by 18 percent or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (to 13.2 million from 11.2 million).

“America’s Got Talent” is up versus NBC’s average in the time period last summer by 62 percent in 18-49 (with a 3.4 rating vs. a 2.1) and up 53 percent in total viewers (12.217 million vs. 7.992 million).  Last night’s “Talent” is also up 10 percent in 18-49 versus the average for the show’s last eight Tuesday telecasts last summer (3.4 vs. 3.1).

·       From 9-11 p.m. ET, the second season premiere of “Love in the Wild” (1.6/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and #1 in women 25-54.  Versus its finale last summer, “Love in the Wild” is up 14 percent in 18-49 (1.6/4 from 9-11 p.m. vs. last summer’s finale 1.4/4 from 10-11 on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011) and up 13 in total viewers (4.987 million vs. 4.409 million).

·       For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., “Love in the Wild” is #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, as well as adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demos and tied for #1 in adults 25-54.

·       In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Love in the Wild” delivered an 11 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 among ABC, CBS and NBC (with a 2.0 rating vs. a 1.8 for ABC’s second-place “20/20” concert special honoring Queen Elizabeth).  In the 10:30 half-hour, “Love in the Wild” is also #1 or tied for #1 among those networks in all other key demographics.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.3/6; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.3/6; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 3.1/7; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.5/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/3; “Late Show,” 0.5/2; “Nightline,” 0.8/8; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.4/2.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.1/4 in metered-market households) tied CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.1/4 with an encore).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped “Late Late Show” (0.3/2 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
