New exec at the helm for ACME

The major activity at ACME Communications during the past few years has been the divestiture of its assets. The leader for most of that effort has promoted an executive from within to finish the job.

President/CEO Doug Gealy is stepping down from his president role, but will retain his CEO title and continue on in an advisory role.

Taking over basic management of the company is Stan Gill, head of the TV duopoly ACME owns in its last DMA, which includes KWBQ and KASY in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe market. Gill moves from VP/COO to President/COO. He will also oversee ACME’s syndicated TV morning show, The Daily Buzz.

The change at the top was effective 7/1/12.

Gealy said, “As I take on this consulting role with ACME, it is with great pride that I promote Stan Gill to Company President. During his 12 year career with ACME, Stan helped grow this Company by managing some of our most successful television stations and co-leading the creation, launch and initial syndication of The Daily Buzz. Additionally, he has taken on simultaneous responsibilities and successfully executed many of the Company’s toughest initiatives. Stan is well deserving of this promotion. I am confident Stan will excel in his new role as he continues to build shareholder value for the Company’s remaining assets and helps to oversee ACME’s exit.”

All of which means there are two television station in Albuquerque and a syndicated television property waiting for the right buyer.
