Nexstar goes after the kids

Nexstar has expanded its relationship with “The Kid’s Doctor” to collaborate on the launch of real-time children’s health and developmental content to Nexstar’s 31 community portal websites and local lifestyle news programming.  The Kid’s Doctor addresses the day-to-day issues facing parents and children through video, feature articles, and daily blog posts from expert medical professionals and award-winning journalists. In addition, The Kid’s Doctor offers users additional local lifestyle content ranging from health and wellness to parenting and behavior, recipes and so much more, providing parents anytime, anywhere access to important, real-time information relevant to families within the local community.

The Kid’s Doctor, which began airing in January, is a weekly broadcast segment by award-winning Pediatrician Dr. Sue Hubbard that is featured on select newscasts aired in Nexstar’s local markets and archived on the Company’s community portal websites. “Dr. Sue” highlights the week’s hottest topics in parenting and discusses the latest updates in medicine, providing tips and advice to help parents foster health and wellness within the home. Dr. Sue graduated with honors from The University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School. She was the first female doctor at Pediatric Associates of Dallas, and has continued to practice medicine there for the past 20 years. She has won numerous awards including the Katherine Ripley Award for Electronic Media and is a member of American Women in Radio and Television.

In addition to the video content, Nexstar’s community portals will also feature parenting articles from award-winning journalists and expert editors organized by children’s developmental stages, making it easier for parents to access important real-time information and tools applicable to today’s family. Furthermore, Dr. Sue keeps parents informed by highlighting the latest medical information or featured topic on her daily blog, “Daily Dose.”

Parents will also gain access to “Chef Dad,” also known as Chef Tom Fleming, and his easy, affordable and time saving recipes. His recipes are archived and always available giving families more ideas and opportunities to gather around the dinner table. A proven leader in the kitchen, Chef Tom Fleming has been involved with successful restaurants across the globe and has earned the James Beard Foundation’s award for “Best New Restaurant.” Tom is presently the executive chef and owner of Crossroads Diner, which was named one of the top 10 diners in the country by Bon Appetit.
