Nexstar Broadcasting Group signed a deal which brings its news, video and content from its 33 local community web portals to mobile users through LSN Mobile’s Local Wireless media-to-mobile platform. Nexstar’s differentiated community web portal strategy, launched in 2007, complements the reach of its local television stations by leveraging the brand, content and local relationships into a successful, growing independent business.

Nexstar’s mobile functionality puts local content on every web-enabled mobile handset and delivers video clips to video-enabled mobile phones, either within a news story or through a video menu. Nexstar will also be offering local wireless apps for the iPhone, Blackberry, Droid and other smartphones as well as SMS/Text messaging delivering geo-targeted mobile alerts for breaking news, weather, sports scores and more.

Marc Montoya, Senior Vice President, eMEDIA of Nexstar Broadcasting with responsibility for the Company’s digital media platforms, commented, “Nexstar’s community portals offer additional content and interactive options for consumers and advertisers and build communities in each of the markets they serve.  By launching mobile functionality and applications, Nexstar will bring mobile users on-demand access to highly rated local news, sports, entertainment, video, weather, features, on-demand video, geo-targeted weather updates, breaking news and tweets, whenever, wherever and in whatever media format they desire.  In doing so, we’ll create a compelling platform for advertisers to reach targeted mobile phone users on the go.

Since its launch in 2007, Nexstar has recorded twelve consecutive quarters of revenue growth from its e-MEDIA community web portal strategy, and in the first nine months of 2009 Nexstar’s e-MEDIA revenue rose by approximately 13% over the comparable 2008 period.
