MARINA DEL REY, CALIF. — The Los Angeles Chargers, formerly the San Diego Chargers National Football League club, have agreed in principle to multi-year television and radio agreements that will make iHeartMedia‘s Los Angeles cluster, The Walt Disney Co.’s KABC-7, Azteca América flagship KAZA-54 and Lotus Communications‘ Ranchera-formatted Spanish-language KFWB-AM as the team’s official flagship English- and Spanish-language broadcast partners.

The Chargers plan to win over fans in their new home by taking their “Fight For L.A.” to the airwaves. This involves “extensive” collaboration with each flagship in developing a wide range of content, including pre-season games, exclusive shoulder programming, behind-the-scenes shows, news features, community events and promotions.

Overall, the Chargers will be offering up nearly 400 hours of programming on an annual basis across the four TV and radio flagship stations.

“We strive to provide Chargers fans with the best experience in every way possible,” said A.G. Spanos, the team’s President of Business Operations. “Whether it’s on-field performance, in-venue experience, season ticket member service or, in this case, unparalleled television and radio access throughout the L.A. region, placing a premium on our fans and their relationship with us is of the utmost importance. These partnerships only serve to enhance this priority.”

As the Chargers flagship English-language broadcast television station, KABC-TV will televise all pre-season games. Additionally, KABC-TV will air two weekly Chargers series in Saturday evening prime-time during the football season as well as weekly Chargers news features throughout the year.

KFI TO GET CHARGED UP

Serving as the Chargers’ flagship English-language radio partner is iHeartMedia’s heritage Talker, KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles.

Additionally, Alternative KYSR-FM “Alt 98.7” and KLAC-AM 570 are set to broadcast 10 hours of game-day coverage.

Furthermore, iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ 8 radio stations— including KIIS-FM, KOST-FM and KRRL-FM “Real 92.3″— will support the Chargers with year-round programming and promotional content, including a weekly Chargers series that will air on KLAC during the season.

For Hispanic media consumers, KAZA-54, will televise all pre-season games and air pre- and post-game shows for the preseason games. A weekly Chargers series will air throughout the season. Lotus’ KFWB will broadcast all pre-season, regular season and postseason Chargers games, including pre- and post-game shows. The station will also air a weekly Chargers series throughout the season.
