Pete McCarthy joins WOR

WORClear Channel Media and Entertainment New York announced that Pete McCarthy will begin hosting “The WOR Sports Zone,” beginning 3/31.  The new sports talker on the Mets flagship station will be heard weeknights from 6-9:00 p.m. and on Mets game days before and after each game.


McCarthy joins WOR after over eight years at MLB.com and five years at SNY-TV, where his duties included sports anchor, play-by-play announcer, color analysis, radio talk show host and sideline reporter.

“I am very excited to be joining WOR and becoming a part of the new flagship station for Mets baseball,” said McCarthy.  “As a lifelong and die-hard Mets fan from Long Island, it is a dream come true to be on the radio in New York City talking sports.”

The 50,000 watt AM powerhouse 710 WOR, will broadcast the Opening Day game on Monday, when the Mets host the Nationals at 1:10 p.m. at Citi Field.
