Poll finds broadband support is a plus with voters

A new poll out from Zogby indicates that a solid majority of voters believe that a strong government push for speedier internet service would be a good thing, and better than four in ten say it a candidate who supports it may get their vote this November.

According to The Hill’s Hillicon Valley blog, 91% say broadband is at least a somewhat important thing in their lives, and 43% said support for it could win their vote. Countering that were 27% who said a politician’s position on the matter was not a priority.

Only 31% believe that the government should stay out of it, preferring to let private companies drive development.
