PPM finds heavy out of home NFL viewing

With the Super Bowl coming up fast, you know that it is one of the biggest out-of-home viewing events of any year. In advance of that big day, Arbitron has released stats on out-of-home viewing of the AFC (Jets-Colts) Championship Game.


With data from more than 40,000 Portable People Meter (PPM) panelists, Arbitron found that 30% of  Men aged 18-34 who watched the CBS Sports telecast did so away from home. Men aged 18-34 Away-from-Home viewing lifted the In-Home audience by 44%.

“The largest Away-from-Home football study shows advertisers that the current total audience for Persons aged 18+ is approximately 28% higher and for targeted demos, Away-from-Home viewing is even stronger,” said Pierre Bouvard, Arbitron EVP, Cross-Platform Services.
