The Nielsen Company has filed its annual 10-K report with the SEC, so we now know how much it got for selling its media trade publications in December.

New owner e5 Global Media LLC paid $84 million for the eight publications, including The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek, The Clio Awards, Backstage and Film Journal International. Even so, Nielsen booked a loss of approximately $14 million on the sale, net of $3 million in taxes.

e5 Global Media was a new company formed by Pluribus Capital Management and Guggenheim Partners to acquire the publications.

Nielsen is treating its former Nielsen Business Media unit properties as discontinued operations for SEC reporting purposes. The company reported a loss from discontinued operations of $61 million for 2009.
