Price revealed for West Virginia Radio buy

Dollar SignWe knew John and David Raese’s West Virginia Radio Corporation was buying a trio of stations serviced Martinsburg WV. Now we know how much the group is paying.


The stations are WEPM-AM and WLTF-FM in Martinsburg, and WICL-FM Williamsport MD.

The seller is group owner Prettyman Broadcasting.

The price is $3,000,000 cash.

WVRC’s President Dale Miller told the local press that his company has been trying to acquire the stations, which serve Martinsburg and portions of the Maryland panhandle, for some 20 years.

The stations also throw signals over parts of the Hagerstown MD-Chambersburg-Waynesboro PA market, but in the transaction application filed with the FCC, the parties to the sale said none of the trio was considered to be in a rated market.

Here are details on the stations:

WEPM-AM is a Class C on 1340 kHz with 1 kW-U, ND

WLTF-FM is a Class B on 97.5 MHz with 11.4 kW @ 1,037’. it also gets much of the Hagerstown MD-Chambersburg-Waynesboro PA market, with good coverage of Hagerstown.

Its outer contour actually makes it to sections of the Washington DC market.

WICL-FM is a Class A on 95.9 MHz with 3.3 kW @ 299’. In addition to serving unrated Martinsburg, and also makes it to Hagerstown.

The AM only projects a fringe signal to Hagerstown.
