106.5 The Arch celebrating 50 years
106.5 The Arch St. Louis is throwing the New Years Eve party that was 50 years in the making! Beginning at 8:00 pm Thursday, December 31, the station is celebrating “50 Years of The Arch” on-air with 50 years of 50 Number One songs – that’s 50 years of variety – all commercial free this New Years Eve.
106.5 The Arch will countdown every #1 song of the year starting with 1959 and Bobby Darin’s “Mack The Knife”, including every number one song by year up until 2009’s “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas.
Produced and hosted live by 106.5’s Jay Philpott, the “50 Years of The Arch” show will be similar in format to Bill Drake’s legendary “History of Rock 'n Roll” program, complete with the unique stories and interesting facts behind each radio hit.
According to PD Kevin Robinson, “Not only will we be the sole St. Louis station doing this type of program, 106.5 The Arch will be the only radio station in the country to produce a LIVE radio show of this proportion. Only the station with the MOST variety can pull something like this off.”
