Retirement is not goodbye for Eucario Bermudez at Radio Caracol 1260 AM
Veteran journalist Eucario Bermudez retired Friday (7/30) from the “Noticiero Del Mediodía” (News at noon) on WSUA-AM Miami “Radio Caracol 1260 AM,” but he’s not going away.
Don Eucario – as he is affectionately known by Radio Caracol listeners – has worked at the station since its launch in 1994, and during these 26 years, he has emerged as one of Miami's most respected journalists, both for his professional excellence and for the moral weight of his opinions.
Starting today, Don Eucario gives a twist to his professional and personal life. The journalist gives up his daily commitment to announcing news, in order to devote his efforts to serve the Hispanic community, looking to help our listeners to join in a common front and to serve as a link between them and the station. Bermudez wants to use the platform that 1260 AM and the hit show “La Voz de la Comunidad” (The Voice of the Community. Saturdays, 10 am) offer him for the Hispanic community to be heard.
"At this stage of my life I have decided to reduce my daily presence at the station to travel more and enjoy my family. I also want to have time to listen to our listeners, find out about their point of views, concerns and complaints. I want to be their voice on the radio," said Don Eucario.
Bermudez will also continue to participate in the special coverage of news events and he will continue to work as an advisor for the News Department of the station. His popular opinion and research notes titled “Eucario y su Comentario” (Eucario and his commentary) will also continue to be included in the most listened to news segments of the station.
