Breaking: Emmis buyout bid terminated
After weeks of trying to negotiate a deal - first with dissident preferred shareholders and then with his former financial backer, Alden Global Capital - Jeff Smulyan has given up on his effort to take Emmis Communications private. There will be no shareholders vote and all shares tendered for the $2.40 per share buyout offer will be returned to their owners.
