Ando Media teams with Fraunhofer for 5.1 Surround Sound streaming
Ando Media, a radio ad inventory management and measurement company announced today that it teamed with the German Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and now supports "true" high definition surround sound streaming through the use of its proprietary processing systems and the mp3 Surround format developed by Fraunhofer IIS and Agere Systems.
Ando's Ad Injector product has been used to manage inventory on HD2 stations for sometime but it has been limited to broadcasting high-bit rate streams in stereo. "True" HD streaming requires 5.1 or 7.1 channels, to date there are currently only a handful of Internet stations broadcasting in 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound.
