John Cooley dead after long ABC News Radio career
ABC News Radio reports that veteran correspondent John Cooley died last Thursday in Athens, Greece after a three-year battle with cancer. Cooley was believed to have been born in 1927, which would make him 80 or 81. “John’s Middle East expertise and extensive contacts created over decades made him an invaluable resource to ABC News Radio. We’ll miss his good humor and sharp insights,” said ABC News Radio VP Steve Jones. Cooley reported from around the globe in the course of his long career. He also authored a number of books including “Unholy Wars: Afghanistan, America and International Terrorism” which was published in 2002.
