WFED Federal News Radio to move in DC

Bonneville International will move its federally-focused radio station, 1050 WFED Federal News Radio, to a full-market signal on 1500 AM and 820 AM in Frederick in the fall of this year.

Bonneville Senior Regional Vice President Joel Oxley said, “With the coming change in administration, putting the station on a more powerful signal was the logical next step in the evolution of Federal News Radio, which serves the ever-growing and important federal community.” 

Federal News Radio (WFED) is a primary source for news and information about the business of the federal government for federal managers and contractors.  Both on-air and online, WFED explains the complicated world of the federal government and provides the most relevant and topical news – in plain language – in a timely and accessible manner. 

1500 AM will continue to feature play-by-play sports of the Washington Nationals, Washington Capitals, Navy Athletics, and George Washington men’s basketball.

These sports also will continue to air on Bonneville’s 107.7 FM signal through the 2009 season. 107.7 FM also will carry WTOP programming.  WTOP – Washington’s News, Traffic and Weather Station – currently broadcasts on 103.5 FM and in Frederick on 103.9 FM.

The 1050 frequency will still be used for WFED, but because of its low power, it becomes a secondary frequency. They will promote the other two frequencies more.
