Jack Fritz’s Results Radio is spending $337.5K to acquire KUBA-AM Yuba City CA. The seller, Scott Robinson’s Nevada County Broadcasters Inc., paid $500K to a licensee headed by Bruce Buzil back in 2004.

Results will put $16,875 into escrow, plunk down an additional $$83,125 at closing, and strike a note for $237.5K to seal the deal. An LMA is in place until closing.

According to a report in the local Appeal-Democrat, Fritz commented, “It was certainly a right price for us.” Discussing plans for the station, he added, “People tune to KUBA primarily because of its local roots. The essence of a healthy radio station is one that serves its local community.”

If the deal was able to close immediately, it would put KUBA into a cluster with two FMs (it can’t close until the FCC has its say). In the end, it will form a combo with one of them – KKCY-FM Colusa CA. The other, KMJE-FM, currently has contour overlap with KUBA, but will soon be executing an FCC-approved more from Gridley CA to Woodland CA which will take it out of KUBA’s range.

Bruce Buzil’s Harlan Communications sold the station to NCBI in a $500K deal filed with the FCC 3/17/04.
