The search for missing DJ Rick Steele has reached a tragic conclusion. Cherry Creek Radio Montrose reports that a body found Saturday has been confirmed to be KBNG-FM “103.7 The Blast” morning host Rick Steele, who had been missing since July 1st.

The body was found July 17th in a canal where the Sheriff’s Posse had erected a net of poles and hooks. The death of the 48-year-old DJ has been ruled an accidental drowning. It appears he fell into the canal while out to walk his dogs.

“We would like to thank everyone for their selfless work in trying to locate Steele. We also thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as we go through this tragic time. Many thanks goes out to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff’s Posse for their endless work on this case. May the fun loving guy that we knew in our hallways and inside our radio always be remembered,” said Cherry Creek Radio Montrose on its website.
