Rob Milford cleared of felony charge

Former KDKA-AM Pittsburgh reporter Rob Milford pleaded “no contest” this week in a Pittsburgh courthouse to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm. It was the same courthouse where he was arrested in June 2008 for carrying a loaded pistol in his briefcase.

Milford had maintained all along that he had no idea the gun, his wife’s pistol, was in the briefcase when he put it through a metal detector on a routine visit to the courthouse. Despite a plea agreement that called for five years of probation, the judge imposed no penalty besides court costs. A felony count of carrying a firearm in a court facility was dismissed.

KDKA said Milford resigned from the station two days after his arrest. Milford says he was fired. The veteran reporter told RBR-TVBR he’s not been working as a journalist for the past 21 months. Now he wants to clear his name.
