Actress Rue McClanahan, best known for her role in the “Golden Girls” series, has died at age 76. People magazine, which first reported the news on its website, quoted her manager as saying McClanahan suffered a massive stroke.

With the death of McClanahan, Betty White, 88, is the only member of the all-female ensemble cast still living. Bea Arthur died last year and Estelle Getty in 2008.

Golden Girls aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992. It still airs in syndication. McClanahan played the man-eating “Blanche Devereaux” in the sitcom.
