Another Smooth Jazz outlet bites the dust. After 19 years, Sandusky’s KWJZ has moved changed 12/28 to a Modern AC, Classic Alternative dubbed “Click 98.9.” Modern Music is the tagline, and they’re in the midst of playing 10,000 songs in a row.
Said KWJZ PD Carol Handley: “Technologies change and the new radio audience measurement [PPM] is not favoring our once ratings-strong Smooth Jazz format.”
She’s right. According to Arbitron’s latest numbers, the station was 18th in the market with a little above a 3.2 average over the last three months.
