The Senate Appropriations Committee approved $445 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Fiscal Year 2019. That’s exactly what CPB sought in federal grant money for noncommercial television and radio stations.
The committee also provided the requested $50 million for a new interconnection system for public broadcasting in Fiscal Year 2017.
America’s Public Television Stations President/CEO Patrick Butler noted the “broad support” from both Republican and Democratic committee members. “We are hopeful that the Congress will continue to demonstrate its bipartisan support for public media as the appropriations process moves forward.”
