The Director of Sales for a pair of Sinclair Broadcast Group TV stations in the Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C. and Asheville, N.C. DMA has been selected to serve as their GM following the retirement of Jack Connors.

Joe Fishleigh will now get the top slot at ABC affiliate WLOS-13, based in Asheville.

He will also oversee the DMA’s MyNetwork TV affiliate, WMYA-40. Sinclair operates the station through a time brokerage agreement with Cunningham Broadcasting.

Overseeing WLOS and WMYA should come easy for Fishleigh—he served as the stations’ GM from 2000-2002 following a three-year run as its Director of Sales. At the time WMYA used the call letters WBSC.

In 2003, Fishleigh moved to Cleveland, taking the NSM role for The E.W. Scripps Co.’s WEWS-5 in Cleveland. He was promoted to LSM one year later, staying in the role until 2009.

That’s when he returned to Greenville-Spartanburg and Asheville, taking the DOS role for WLOS and WMYA.

Fishleigh’s other experience includes a role as GSM of WJW-8 in Cleveland from 1996-97.

“There is just no question of Joe’s love for the community,” said Steve Marks, EVP/COO of Sinclair’s television group. “Joe’s experience in the broadcast industry and his involvement in the Asheville community will be an asset to the stations and the viewers.”
